free Norwegian language courses at Alfaskolen

80 hours free Norwegian writing and conversation training!

Focus on improving your writing and conversation skills in Norwegian.
In collaboration with the Norwegian Directorate for Integration and Diversity (IMDi), Alfaskolen can offer a limited number of students 80 hours of free Norwegian language training for levels B1-B2.

Course description

This course consists of 80 lesson hours and 2 modules:

Module 1: Exam preparation and writing course (36 + 12 lesson hours) ~6 weeks
3 lesson hours of exam preparation course, followed by 1 lesson hours of writing course. Choose between in-person or online sessions.
Module 2: Online conversation course (32 lesson hours) ~8 weeks
2 lesson hours of conversation course held online.

Module 1 can be attended either online or in-person. Module 2 is only available online.

Exam preparation: Review the material the material covered in levels A1 and A2, B1 or B2, and focus on the 4 main skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Writing course: Improve your ability to express complex ideas with clarity and precision, preparing for real-world applications and advanced examinations.
Conversation course: Sharpen your pronunciation, expand your vocabulary, and understand cultural nuances to communicate effectively in both personal and professional settings.

Please bring a computer or tablet to the in-person sessions. The total duration of the course is approximately 14 weeks, with 2 sessions per week.

Who is qualified?

This offer has limited capacity. Because of this, there are certain requirements you must meet in order to be eligible:

You have completed levels A0-A2 and pass the placement test (all students will need to take a placement test)
You are living in Norway and want to improve your Norwegian.
You are not currently participating in free Norwegian training sponsored by the Norwegian government (Introduction program, etc.).

NB! You cannot participate in several free courses on behalf of IMDi with other private providers at the same time.

How do I apply?

Fill out the expression of interest form here.
Wait for an invitation to take a placement test at Alfaskolen or online. – Placement tests are mandatory before starting a free course!
Courses will be offered at daytime and evening, classroom-based (at Kongens gate 15).

NB! You cannot participate in several free courses on behalf of IMDi with other private providers at the same time.
